A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Wednesday armed robbery at TD Canada Trust in the Tillicum Centre, as well as two previous armed robberies May 25 and 26.
The earlier crimes happened at 7-Eleven stores at 10 Burnside Rd. West and 3775 Carey Rd. In the Carey Road robbery, a woman accompanied a man into the store.
“We don’t know who the female is yet so we’re hoping people will give us a call if they have info,” said Saanich police Sgt. Julie Fast.
The suspect was arrested Thursday in downtown Victoria after an extensive investigation by Saanich police, with assistance from Victoria police.
“Our investigators are still working through it,” Fast said. “We are putting charges forward for three counts of robbery with a firearm in relation to all three of the robberies.”
Saanich police said a number of people were affected by the robberies and victim-services assistance is available to support anyone who needs it.
Following the Tillicum Centre robbery, police advised the public that the man responsible could likely be recognized by red staining on his hands, face and torso, since a security dye-pack went off in the package he was given. It is not clear if he was still affected when police caught up with him.
The suspect is due to appear in court Friday.
Anyone with information on the woman involved is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
