A Victoria police officer is recovering after being allegedly kicked in the face during a mental-health apprehension Sunday night.
Police attended a multi-unit building in the 1100 block of Johnson Street about 10:30 p.m. to check on the welfare of a resident, who was reported to be suffering from a mental-health crisis.
The injured officer was taken to hospital and released after treatment, and is expected to be off work for some time.
The man in the unit was apprehended and hospitalized for his mental-health issues.
