Victoria police deployed closed circuit surveillance cameras near the legislature Sunday to assist with security during events for the B.C. Law Enforcement Memorial.
The deployment is temporary.
Events are planned at the B.C. legislature and surrounding area to honour peace and police officers who have given their lives in service to their communities.
Police said the cameras being placed in public spaces are done so in accordance with B.C. and national privacy legislation. The cameras will be taken down a short time after the event. Temporary signs will be posted to ensure that those in the area are aware.
