Comox Valley RCMP are investigating a fire in the menswear department of the Courtenay Walmart on Thursday night that led to the evacuation of the store and kept it closed on Friday.
The fire was quickly extinguished by the Courtenay Fire Department, which notified police of the incident about 9:30 p.m.
A suspect was arrested at the scene and is in custody pending a court appearance.
Police want to speak with any witnesses who were at Walmart, or may have been in the area at the time the fire occurred, Const. Monika Terragni said.
