This is the weekend to get rid of your old books for a good cause.
If you take them to the 16th annual Times Colonist book drive, you’ll be helping Vancouver Island literacy-related programs.
Drop off your books between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Victoria Curling Club, 1952 Quadra St.
Enter the parking lot off Pembroke Street between Quadra and Blanshard, then follow the volunteers’ directions.
Organizers ask that you stay in your car while they remove your books.
For the first time, a separate, shorter drop-off will be held in the West Shore. It runs Saturday only, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., in Westhills at the end of the Langford Parkway.
Only books in good condition will be accepted — no encyclopedias, textbooks, outdated reference works, Reader’s Digest condensed books or National Geographic issues or other magazines.
The book sale will be held May 4 and 5 at the Victoria Curling Club.
