A three-vehicle fire early Sunday morning is under police investigation.

Nanaimo firefighters were called to a two-storey building near the intersection of Pine Street and Victoria Road for what was initially described as a structure fire shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Nanaimo Fire Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Jodi Le Masurier referred questions about the fire to police, saying that RCMP has taken over the investigation.

Le Masurier said there fire appears to have been concentrated on the vehicles and there was no damage to the nearby building.

Two trucks and a van, all with visible scorch marks and shattered windows, were sighted behind a tape cordon on Sunday.
